Why Substance-Specific Treatment Matters
Not all addictions are the same. The neurobiology of opioid dependence differs fundamentally from alcohol or stimulant use disorder. Withdrawal from benzodiazepines can be life-threatening and requires medical supervision, while cocaine withdrawal is primarily psychological but equally challenging.
